Recently, two American Airlines planes had to make emergency landings because a row of seats became unhinged. After some investigation, the airline claims that improperly installed clamps were to blame.
American Airlines is continuing to work with federal safety administrators to ensure that all of its aircraft is up to standard. Seats on 36 of the airline’s Boeing 757’s have been inspected so far, with a further 11 still to be checked.
American Airline vice president of safety, David L. Campbell, said that the clamps may have been installed incorrectly during maintenance work by American crews and outside contractor Timco Aviation Services, reports the Daily Mail.
