Scoot, new budget long-haul airline
November 3rd, 2011 by elisa

Singapore Airlines is to launch a new long-haul budget carrier called ‘Scoot’ by the middle of next year.

Seats will be offered at up to 40% less than full-service airlines currently operating in Asia. Flights to the UK have not yet been confirmed, but the airline has indicated an expansion into Europe is likely.

Singapore Airlines also own budget airline SilkAir, but Scoot will be the first expansion into long-haul routes.

Scoot will operate flights between Asia, Asutralia and China in the first year before expanding to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Scoot, which will start with four Boeing 777-200 wide-bodied aircraft, will compete with AirAsia X, the the long haul affiliate of Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia.
