Rewards for living in the air
July 18th, 2011 by elisa

Life in the air, that’s what Tom Stuker from Bloomingdale, Illinois, has just been recognised for as his name is to be printed on the side of a Boeing 747 in honour of completing 10 million air miles at 40,000 feet.

The car sales consultant became the first United Airlines frequent flyer to get to this figure last weekend as he was flying between Los Angeles and Chicago.

He popped champagne to mark the occasion during the flight, but he was not alone in the celebration, as when he landed at O’Hare, United Chief Executive Officer Jeff Smisek and other executives welcomed him with the first titanium Mileage Plus membership card.

The airline says that since he joined the United’s Mileage Plus program in 1982, Stuker has flown 5,962 flights to all 50 US states, 200 round trips to Australia and nearly 30 round trips to Asia.

“I love the solace and peacefulness at 40,000 feet,” Stuker said. “That’s where I do my best creative work writing my training materials.”
