« wins legal battle with Blackpool Airport
June 17th, 2011 by elisa has won a legal battle with Blackpool Airport. The Lancashire airport refused to allow two of’s late night flights to land last October, forcing them to divert to Manchester.

The airport said it did not want to provide ground staff and emergency services after 9pm,  and also threatened to prevent the airline from taking off or landing outside of the airport’s published opening hours of 7am to 9pm. said it was a breach of it’s contract which allows aircraft to land outside of opening hours.

The “sudden and unilateral decision to refuse to honour’s flights” was “a serious breach of contract” said his honour Judge Mackie QC.

He added: “It cannot be intended that BAL should be able to pick and choose what to do in light of what suits it financially.” chief executive Philip Meeson said: “This is a great victory for our customers – is here to stay. We are delighted that our commitment to Blackpool and our dedication to maintaining friendly low fares have been recognised by the court.”
