Flights still disrupted by Chilean volcano
June 13th, 2011 by elisa

The Chilean volcano which recently erupted has been causing flight problems with its ash cloud as far away as New Zealand, Australia, Chile and Argentina.

Some airlines have resumed their services today after a weekend of cancellations but Qantas flights to and from New Zealand and Tasmania remain suspended. Qantas has however brought in a Boeing 747 jumbo jet to operate three services carrying more than 1000 people between Sydney and Melbourne to help with the backlog of cancellations due to the volcano.

Air New Zealand has altered its flight paths to avoid the ash cloud so its services remain operational.

British Airways services are now operating normally also, however passengers should check the status of their flights before travelling to the airport in case of any changes to weather patterns which may cause further disruptions.
