Qantas A380 Los Angeles-Australia route re-instated
January 12th, 2011 by elisa

Qantas will begin using the A380 Airbus again for the Australia and Los Angeles service on Sunday. The aircraft was grounded for two months after a mid-air explosion and investigations into the cause were carried out.

A limited number of A380 flights to London were re-instated in November, but the Los Angeles-Australia routes were delayed because of the regular requirement of maximum engine thrust.

In a statement, the airline said that after extensive engineering analysis and consultation, Qantas, Rolls Royce and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority were satisfied that it was appropriate for Qantas to resume these A380 routes. Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce, said the decision would see Qantas continue the progressive reintroduction of A380s to its network.
