
Tourist taxes seem to be en vogue at the moment, with Venice soon to follow suit. According to a report in the Telegraph, the planned tourist tax will affect the 20 million visitors who arrive each year by boat, plane and train.
A draft plan has been drawn up by the minister public administration and innovation, Renato Brunetta. The government is believed to be discussing the possibility of a small levy on tourists to help restore its crumbling ancient monuments, palaces and churches.
