American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia have officially announced their trilateral relationship at a recent press conference.

The partnership will see the launch of four new routes next April. BA will launch London Heathrow to San Diego flights, American will start New York JFK to Budapest and Chicago to Helsinki, and Iberia will launch Madrid to Los Angeles.

The airlines will codeshare with some routes: American will add its code to 322 BA and 101 Iberia flight destinations; BA will add its code to 2063 American and 181 Iberia flight destinations; and Iberia will add its code to 354 American and BA flights serving 96 destinations.

“Combined selling and scheduling means that we will able to operate routes that would not have been viable for us to operate individually.

“This partnership will provide a one-stop shop for transatlantic travel regardless of how you book, which of our airlines you fly with or where you want to transfer” said BA chief executive Willie Walsh.
