Unite issue ballot warning to BA if dispute carries on
June 23rd, 2010 by elisa

Unite has told British Airways that it must settle the ongoing dispute over pay and working conditions by the 29th June or they will ballot their members for another cabin crew strike over the busy summer months.

Talks held between the union and BA management and even conciliation service Acas has failed to reach a resolution so far. The dispute now hinges on restoring travel perks which were taken away from strikers back in March.

If a ballot goes ahead, it could mean that strikes will start as early as the beginning of August.

Unite has told BA to drop its “position of confrontation” and start talking again but BA has retorted by calling the plan for summer time strikes “deplorable”. I’m not sure if this makes for a good start to renewed negotiations but I’ll keep the blog up to date with news as it comes through.
