Air France has launched a “Time to Think” e-service for economy passengers which means that they can hold a reservation for a time until they want the flight.

Website users can hold a fare for up to 14 days.

Those who then decide to buy will automatically get their boarding pass 30 hours before departure. If they don’t buy the ticket, it will be cancelled when the 14 days expire. There is a fee for this service however, which starts from £10 per passenger.

General manager Air France KLM UK and Ireland Henri Hourcade said: “Whether it’s business or leisure, we know that people’s travel plans can change which is why we’ve launched our “Time to Think” period. Having the option to reserve the best European flights and fares saves our customers time and money.”

I think this is a good idea, it is a shame that they charge a fee but this is understandable for saving passengers the best prices and seats on flights for so long. It means that passengers can hold the fare and flight while they gather together the money from other travel companions or while they check cheaper prices with other airlines without missing out on fares that sometimes go very quickly.
