Launch of Fly.com to help save time and money searching for flights
May 26th, 2010 by elisa

Fly.com, launched today is a new concept using meta-data technology to deliver live, accurate air fare search results. It’s a Travelzoo offshoot which aggregates information from hundreds of airlines and travel sites, actively managing live data feeds from the most relevant travel companies.

It claims to be the only flight comparison site to have a ‘why me?’ function, which shows features offered by each airline or flight offer, such as free drinks, Wi-Fi, leather seating and interactive TV. It will display prices in all cabin classes in each search and all fares shown will include the necessary taxes and fees.

Research based on 691 Travelzoo UK subscribers found that people spend an average 2.6 hours and check four different sites when booking a flight.

“We believe this is because there is so much misinformation out there and the prices offered on many sites are often no longer available when it comes time to book,” said business development vice president Europe Aaron Ritoper.

“Our results are updated upon every new search, so our users get real prices and availability. This means they don’t have to spend hours comparing flight prices and will not experience the frustration of clicking through on a price and discovering that it is not really there.”

If this site delivers on what it claims, then I think it’s a brilliant resource for many travellers to save time and money. If any readers of this blog use it, please leave a message to tell us how you found it to use and whether you would go back for future bookings.
